Documentary and commercial cinematography and editing for Savannah brands
Wide Medium Close is built on a core documentary cinematography principle: a wide shot establishes time and place, a medium shot brings focus to the characters and action, and a close-up reveals emotion that binds a story. Together, they form the visual language that draws in an audience and brings the story to life.I take this approach one step further by focusing on your brand’s deliberate innovations—crafting story-driven films that highlight what makes your brand special and create a perspective that an audience can connect with.
But why cinematic marketing?
Cinematic marketing doesn’t replace the content you’re already creating—it strengthens it by giving your brand something cohesive to stand on. While day-to-day posts keep your audience engaged, a thoughtfully crafted film defines how your business is perceived. By using intentional composition, sound design, and narrative structure, you guide the viewer’s attention and draw them into a clear, compelling story. So, when someone encounters your brand, they don’t just see it, they understand it and want to be a part of it. That is the mission of Wide Medium Close.

Capturing on Netflix grade cinema equipment, I offer my eye in shot design and technical expertise developed under world class filmmakers and mentors, now friends, from the Savannah College of Art and Design.Wide, Medium, Close isn’t just how I shoot—it’s how I think. Every project starts by seeing the big picture, then finding the people at its heart, then drawing close enough to connect. This story-first approach reflects in my cinematography, creating stories that feel both intimate and cinematic.

Editing is rhythm, and the final stop in the storytelling process. At the beginning and end of every story is an exigence: a reason it must be told. Communication theorist Lloyd Bitzer defined exigence as “an imperfection marked by urgency” — a situation demanding response. In film, that urgency is the pulse beneath the cut.Through intentional story structuring, pacing, and emotional calibration, I build momentum toward that central need. From color grading that reinforces tone, to sound design that deepens immersion, to subtle graphic elements that guide the viewer’s focus. My role in post-production is to uncover why the story matters, why anyone should care, and shape the edit around that core.

Over the past several years, my documentary filmmaking has evolved from humble beginnings into polished, character-driven stories fueled by a deep passion for human-interest storytelling. That journey has taken me across the East Coast, contributing to award-winning short films along the way. My name is Sean Marcus, and I am a documentary cinematographer and editor. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design and have since founded and operated my Savannah-based production company, Wide-Medium-Close.I collaborate with brands, agencies, and independent filmmakers to craft visually intentional and emotionally resonant stories — from concept through final delivery.
